A bolt anchor (also known as a wall tie or gable anchor) has traditionally been a bar to attach beams and studs to walls to prevent the walls from spreading.
Operation
A bolt anchor consists of a "spring with an eye" which runs perpendicular to the wall and is attached to the beam inside, and a "bolt" which protrudes through the eye of the spring on the outside.
