Joint Industry Council (JIC) fitting in accordance with SAE J514.
Conically shaped metal surfaces are pressed together to form a seal.
Male JIC fittings are also used as pipe connectors. A cone is used to expand the pipe to suit the size of the fitting.
The cone angle is either 37° or 47°, depending on the measuring method.
- Universal
- Secure
- UNF thread
To differentiate between a JIC fitting and the more common BSP fitting, you can compare the sealing cones: In JIC nut fittings with a female thread, the sealing cone faces inwards and in BSP nut fittings with a female thread, the cone faces outwards.
In JIC fittings with a male thread, the sealing cone faces outwards and in the corresponding BSP fittings, the cone faces inwards.
